Cross Institutional Study
Outgoing Students
Cross-Institutional Study enables students from the University of Melbourne (home institution) to study at other Australian tertiary institutions (host institution) and have those studies credited toward their degree. Students will be enrolled on the same fee basis as at the University of Melbourne. The Commerce Student Centre gives permission for such studies in a limited number of cases.
Before applying to study at another institution, students should note the following conditions:
- You must be currently enrolled in the BCom degree or double degree.
- You must have a good academic record (ie. an average of 65%) in your most recent full-time semester (or equivalent) of tertiary study (including Summer Semester).
- The subjects chosen must be of equivalent standard and weighting to subjects available at the University of Melbourne
- The subjects chosen must be offered on-campus at the host institution, within Australia.
- If the host institution is within the Melbourne metropolitan area, the subject/s requested must not be offered at the University of Melbourne.
- If the host institution is in regional Victoria or interstate, you must have been required to relocate due to professional commitments or for personal reasons.
- Subjects completed at the selected institution must be able to be credited toward the Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne.
- A maximum of eight subjects (100 points) may be undertaken through Cross Institutional Studies.
- Applications will be considered for one semester at a time (ie. four subjects). If you wish to undertake Cross Institutional Studies for more than one semester, you should lodge a further application at the completion of the first semester of study.
- All Bachelor of Commerce students must complete at least 50 points of level-3 Commerce subjects and the five compulsory subjects at the University of Melbourne. These cannot be replaced by subjects from other institutions.
